How To Measure Windows For Shades

How To Measure Windows

Accurate measurements are essential in order for the Blinds to properly fit the window opening. Always use a steel tape measure. Measure each window separately even if windows appear to be the same size.

How To Measure For Inside Mount Roller Shades & Zebra Shades

  1. Measure the inside surface at the top, middle, and bottom, then record the shortest width that fits your size.
Whole Item Width = Order Width -0.1"
  2. Measure the inside surface at the left, middle, and right, then record the shortest height that fits your size.
Whole Item Height = Order Height
  3. Window Depth > 2.56'' (6.5cm)

* When the depth of window frame is less than 3.34'',
the top valance will extend beyond the window frame.

* For inside mounts, the fabric will be approximately 1-1/4" narrower than the window opening.

How To Measure For Outside Mount Roller Shades & Zebra Shades

  1. Measure the top, middle, and bottom width of the outside window frame, then record the maximum width that fits your size.
    Order width = Window Width + 2-6''
  2. Measure the left, middle, and right height of the outside window frame, then record the maximum height that fits your size.
    Order Height = Window Height + 3-6''

* For outside mounts, the fabric will completely cover the window opening to maximize light blocking.

How to Measure Multiple Side-by-side Shades

Measuring multiple side-by-side shades is the same as measuring one, and does not require additional width reduction. The fabric will generally be narrower by 1.2" due to the hardware width.
